Our first weekend away of 2025 is a local one, to the far reaches of the Peak District. Famous for attractions such as Dove Dale, Chrome Hill (“The Dragon’s Back”) and The Roaches, it’s nice to explore those local places we rarely visit for day trips.

Other attractions in the area include the Manifold Valley, Thor’s Cave, and Arbor Low stone circle. Or even Alton Towers! (Which may or may not be open)

Weekends away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. The hostel is 35 minutes’ walk from a bus stop (no service Sundays), and also has a cycle store.

We usually have access to bunkhouses from 16:00-17:00 on Friday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time after that. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home.
