We’re going overseas this time, to near Ramsey on the Isle of Man. Up in the north east (the sunny side) of the island, we have access to coast, mountains, and historic sites.

We have a group of rooms booked at the Venture Centre, an activity centre in a set of converted farm buildings. If people want to, we may be able to organise an activity or two through them, or you may be able to book as an individual. They can also recommend walks in the area, such as Snaefell to the centre along the North Barrule ridge (pictured).

Weekends away are only open to Ramblers members. For this weekend, we will investigate group transport from Sheffield for anyone who wants it - this may well be cheaper than booking individual tickets or taking cars on the ferry. Alternatively, you are welcome to make your own way to the hostel - for example if you intend to spend longer on the island.

We are booked in the hostel from Thursday evening to Monday morning, with 3 full days on the island. Travel to and from the island is likely to take most of the day either side, so you’ll need to take 3 days off work (assuming you work Monday - Friday).
