Our first weekend away for 2024 is a return to one of the group’s all-time favourite locations, above the village of Glenridding in the Lake District. This time we have exclusive hire of YHA Helvellyn, 2 miles outside the village and a great location for walking from the door.

As the name suggests, two of the paths up Helvellyn (the third highest mountain in England) lead right from the hostel door for those seeking a strenuous walk, or Aira Force Waterfall, and Ullswater and its paddle steamers are nearby for easier walks, along with many alternative routes all around.

Weekends away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. The actual walks on offer depend on what walks leaders volunteer to run.
