Stunning Snowdonia

  • Bron-y-Gader bunkhouse Conwy, Wales, LL32 8UT United Kingdom (map)

***This trip is now fully booked. If you wanted to be added to the waiting list in case people drop out please contact Alistair on the number given below***

Come and join us for three nights of fun on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. By day we can hike from our doorstep, take a leisurely stroll in the Conwy Valley or go to Adventure Parc Snowdonia for an adrenaline fix. By night we will be tucked away in the hills in our private bunk house for food, laugher and games.

Please note that this trip is for Ramblers members only!

Overview

Designed as a ‘do as much as you feel like’ trip, the location will allow those into serious hill walking the ability to escape to the mountains from the doorstep. For those looking for a day off the hiking trails, there’s Llandudno and the Great Orme, Betws-y-Coed and Adventure Parc Snowdonia all within a 20-minute drive. Snowdon is a 40-minute drive for anybody with the urge to conquer Wales’s highest peak.

SWG will offer a hard and a moderate walk on both the Saturday and Sunday. Those wishing to do something else will be expected to plan this themselves. With space for 26 there should be enough like-minded people to group up with and we will hold a gathering at 9:30pm on Friday evening.

Activities

A walk programme will be provided closer to the time, with 2x hard and 2x moderate walks offered on Saturday and Sunday. One day will be the summiting of Carnedd Llywelyn which offers some spectacular ridge walking. Monday will be a ‘free day’ and we will need to be off site by 10am.

For those who want something different, a drive round the Great Orme seal spotting near LLandudo is one of North Wales’s highlights. Closer to our accommodation there’s the world-class National Trust Bodnant Gardens and Adventure Parc Snowdonia, which offers both indoor and outdoor adrenaline adventures from zipwires and indoor climbing to surf lessons.

We will hold a gathering at 9:30pm Friday to review who wants to do what to make sure everyone is doing what they enjoy.  Evenings will be spent talking over a beer or tea and playing board games.

Accommodation

We have booked the Bron-Y-Gader self-catering bunk house for exclusive use from 17:00 on Friday 8th April until 10:00 Monday 11th April. Accommodation will be bunk beds in rooms of up to 6 people which will be split by gender as far as feasible. There is a small communal lounge, a dining room, drying room and large kitchen.

It is in a remote location, with the nearest pub 1.5 miles away. There are no shops or cafes within walking distance. For a rough location, the nearest village is Llanbedr-y-Cennin, a 2.5 hour drive from Sheffield.

Camping is available just outside the building should you wish to camp. You will have full access to the bunk barn communal areas and showers. The price for camping is the same.

Food

We will provide 2x dinners (Fri / Sat) and 3x breakfasts (Sat / Sun / Mon) as part of the trip. Dinner will be pizza on the Friday night, so you can eat whenever you arrive, and a mild chilli (or similar) on Saturday. Vegetarian options will be provided. Breakfast will be DIY bacon rolls (and vegetarian equivalent), cereals, toast or porridge. Tea and coffee will also be provided.

If you have any dietary requirements, please let me know at the time of booking so we can come up with a plan that works for you.
