Robin Hood’s Bay (not that Robin Hood) is a popular village on the North Yorkshire coast, famous for its history of smuggling. The houses cling to the cliffs, with narrow alleys winding their way up and down the hill side. As well as coastal walks, such as Ravenscar, Sandsend, Whitby and Staithes, the North Yorkshire Moors are just inland, with places like Goathland, Dalby Forest and Great Fryup Dale.
We have exclusive use of the Old School House, a bunkhouse we’ve been to a few times before, sited just above the picturesque old town.
Weekends away are only open to Ramblers members. You will need to arrange your own transport, although the group will try to put people in touch to arrange lift shares. There is also a bus and an old railway cycle route running from Scarborough to Whitby via Robin Hood’s Bay.
We have access to the bunkhouse from 16:00 on Friday, but you are welcome to arrive at any time after that. Some people like to travel early to make the most of the day, while others prefer to travel after work. The finish time will depend on how long any walks on Sunday take before returning home.
