We'll start from Birchen Edge Car Park and head north along Birchen Edge, past Nelson's Monument and his Three Ships. The path then loops round to tick off another monument (Wellington's this time) and head into Baslow. Baslow has cafes and public toilets in case anyone needs a break already!
We'll then follow the River Derwent through Chatsworth Park before crossing over the river to head into the village of Edensor so we can see how the super-wealthy live. The footpath takes us up hill for a view across to Chatsworth House and then dips into a valley to take us down to the road and across the River Derwent again.
We've saved the biggest climb to last, ascending 150 metres up to the 3000-year-old Hob Hurst's House (not a house). We'll then walk down the edge of Gibbet Moor towards the road with the final kilometre being a muddy path along a stream to get us back to The Robin Hood Inn for drink and cake.
Terrain: Although the paths are generally good with gravel tracks and some muddy sections, it’s a fairly long walk at just over 13 miles.
Total Ascent: 530 m
Dogs welcome!

The walk leader can offer lifts to those in the Malin Bridge/Crookes area. Please text the number above if you can offer or need a lift and I'll see what I can do.
