Full description:
This linear night walk takes us from Grindleford in the Peak District to Hunters Bar in Sheffield, making a stop en route at The Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow for their Great Fire of Ringinglow bonfire event.
Meeting at Grindleford railway station as the darkness begins to fall we begin our evening adventure by ascending Padley Gorge. At the top we'll cut through the Longshore Estate and eventually emerge at Fox House. From here we cross over Houndkirk Moor, from where there should be a good view of the fireworks lighting up the sky over the Steel City in the distance.
After climbing hills and crossing moorland we’ll arrive at The Norfolk Arms in Ringinglow. We’ll be here for a little while to enjoy the festivities, so there’s plenty of time to warm up by the bonfire and an opportunity to grab a drink or some food before we continue the walk to Sheffield.
The second part of our walk follows the course of Porter Brook from Ringinglow, via Forge Dam, Whiteley Woods and Endcliffe Park. The walk finishes at Hunters Bar.
As this is mostly a night walk you must have appropriate equipment. A head torch is essential.
Please note that this is a linear walk with different start and end points.
