Full description: It’s heather time! A walk along Derwent Edge, starting off with a big climb (160m) and then making our way over the moors between the excellent rocks. Up on the top we’ll enjoy the rocks and the heather, and stop for lunch at Back Tor. From there we’ll head down to Lost Lad, recreate the usual photo where we all look for the lost lad, and then go back down on a more gentle path back to Ladybower. We’ll finish up in a pub.
A strenuous start, but much nicer afterwards. Please be aware that it can get very boggy in places. Please bring lunch and plenty of water.
Public transport or car sharing options: 257 from Sheffield Interchange leaves at 9:00 and arrives at the Yorkshire Bridge Inn at 9:35ish. If you are driving, please use the Meetup comments to share lifts - the car parks get full very quickly on weekend mornings.
Be prepared:
Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year. A waterproof is always advised, as well as plenty of food and water.
