Full description: A strenuous linear walk from snake pass summit via Kinder to Castleton.

We start from the bus on Snake Pass summit and will quickly pass Featherbed Top. Then we follow the Pennine Way past Mill Hill, Kinder Downfall and Kinder Low. Taking impressive views of the vast open country as we go. We then will head to Brown Knowl and onto Rushup Edge. We will then head into Castelton via Winnats Pass unless we feel particularly energetic and add in Mam Tor.

Buses from Castleton to Sheffield are 17:06, 18:06 and 20:06.

Note:

  • This will be a long day of fast walking on exposed ground. You will need both waterproofs and sun cream/ hat as is the variable British weather. Along with food and water for 6hrs.

  • Alex may get food in Castleton afterwards if anyone wants to join.

  • Don't drive to the start. The next bus isn't for a week.

Public transport or car sharing options: 257c bus departs Sheffield Interchange 09:55 arrrives 10:55.

Be prepared:
Please remember to dress appropriately for the time of year. A waterproof is always advised, as well as plenty of food and water (3L is a good starting point for this walk). Please bring sun protection if required (sun hat, sunglasses, sun cream etc).
