Full description:

Fairly steep ascent from Bakewell Centre via Ashford on the Water to Monsal Head. Here we have the option of a pub or cafe for a lunch stop. Once refreshed, it’s down onto the old converted railway trail, through the Headstone Tunnel. There is a brief diversion from the trail, via Great Longstone, then it’s back onto the trail (via Hassop Station) and onto Bakewell where we should finish at a pub.

Suitable footwear is required as there are some loose stones and it can be slippy depending on the recent weather.

Public transport or car sharing options:

There is the 218 bus from Sheffield Interchange which leaves at 09:38 and arrives 10:32 in Bakewell. Returns are fairly regular including 16:20 and 16:55 from Bakewell.

Parking may be a little challenging in Bakewell on a Bank Holiday.
