Full description: This is a nature night walk!
We'll start in the Loyal Trooper Pub. If you'd like food at the pub then arrive for 7:45pm (a small table is booked), alternatively you can join us for a drink or just for the walk which will start at around 9pm.
We'll start by walking down to the Chesterfield Canal and along the Cuckoo Way, hopefully seeing a few bats along the canal, we'll take a quick detour into Old Spring Woods for a bit of a change of scenery, then make our way up to Lindrick to look for Glow Worms!
Finally we'll walk through the spooky Anston Stones Wood, listening for owls and mysterious rustling. Potentially with a stop at the at Dead Man's Cave, where excavations have found 12,000 year old flint tools and bones.
We'll end back at the pub; which depending on how long we search for glow worms, will probably be closed (around midnight).

Although glow worms have been found on this site in previous years, there's no guarantee that we'll see them due to all sorts of habitat and weather reasons. But it should be an interesting walk anyway!
Please remember to bring a torch! We'll try not to use them too much or when looking for glow worms, but it does get very dark in the woods!

Public transport or car sharing options: On-street parking around the pub.
X5 bus goes to South Anston.
Trains go to Kiveton Park.
Remember public transport might have stopped by the time we finish the walk.
Add a comment if you'd like to try sharing a lift.

Be prepared: Please remember to dress appropriately particularly with this being a night walk, with enough layers, as required (at night moving slowly looking for glow worms this could be quite cool). as noted above it is essential that you bring your own torch (head torch recommend). A waterproof, and food and water. Further information on what to bring can be found on our website here: https://www.sheffieldwalkinggroup.org.uk/be-prepared
