Full description:
The walk is planned to leave Bakewell, go a short distance along the Monsal Trail, take the footpath through Haddon Park, into Rowsley, along the Derwent Valley Heritage Way to Carlton Lees, via Chatworth deer park and stopping briefly at the Stables for some snacks/coffee, then going on to Baslow where the walk ends (with a stop in one of the pubs). There are some relatively steep ascents and descents with a mixture of terrain - a good level of fitness, good footwear and suitable clothing for the weather are required. Please note, this will be a fast-paced walk.
Public transport or car sharing options:
Public Transport is recommended as this is a linear walk. 218 bus leaves the Sheffield Interchange for Bakewell at 09:40 to arrive in Bakewell for 10:44. To return, the 218 bus calls at Baslow at 5 minutes past the hour including 15:05.
Parking at Bakewell is available in the Bakewell Bridge Car Park and at the Baslow end in available at Nether End Car Park. As this is a linear walk driving may not be sensible unless a lift is coordinated to return to the start of the walk. If so, please arrange car shares via the comments on Meetup.
