Join us for one of the Peak District’s best walks, with a fantastic variety of scenery. From Hathersage we walk uphill through a lush green valley, to Stanage Edge, where there are some great views. We then walk across to Stanage Pole and down to the other side of the Valley. At 3.5 miles we will reach Redmires Resevoirs, a lovely peaceful spot where we will stop for lunch. Please bring along your own lunch, and a picnic item to share with the group (e.g. biscuits) if you can. There will also be the opportunity for a dip in the water for those who wish. We then make our way through the Redmires Plantations to an ice cream stop at 5 miles! After this we go through the beautiful Wyming Brook, and the Fox Hagg nature reserve, before finishing at a great pub where we will have a drink.
Transport: There is a train to Hathersage leaving at 11.12 from Sheffield Station and arriving at 11.35. At the end of the walk, the no. 51 leaves every 20 minutes from a ten minute walk away and goes back into the centre of town. Or if you wish to drive to Hathersage, there are buses back to Hathersage at 4.48 and 5.48, from Manchester Road, a 20 minute walk from the pub.
