We will walk up through Loxley Common, admiring the lovely views after an initial climb, then we will head west on the Sheffield Country Walk. We head down from Castle Hill to High Bradfield, before walking round Agden Reservoir. We will make a picnic lunch stop at the water. We will then walk through Low Bradfield, along the Damflask reservoir and then alongside the Loxley River, back to our starting point. Lots of water and beautiful countryside!
I would encourage people to come even if 11 miles feels like a long distance as we will take it at a steady pace and anyone wishing to cut the walk short could do so at 4 miles or at 7 miles by taking a bus back from High/Low Bradfield to Loxley. There is a total ascent of 355m so there will be some up and down but this will be on good paths.
Please bring lunch and a picnic item to share with the group (e.g. fruit/biscuits) and you may wish to come equipped for optional weather-dependent activity in the water.
For those who would like, the plan is to have an optional roast dinner at the end, at the Wisewood Inn (it is apparently a very good pub). I will make a booking for 6pm – please let me know if you would like to come.
Dogs welcome!
