Full description:
The walk begins along the Upper Don trail to Neepsend, passing the Kelham Weir. We then make a diversion through Parkwood Springs, for views over Sheffield, before rejoining at Wardsend Cemetery. Then follows the worst part of the walk along busy roads through Wadsley Bridge to Beeley Wood. Continuing through Beeley Wood and Wharncliffe Wood to Deepcar, we then pass Deepcar Weir and Tin Mill Weir before finishing in Stocksbridge.
Because this is a longer, fast-paced walk, it may not be suitable as a first event with the group, unless you already have hiking experience.
Public transport or car sharing options:
Closest tram stop is Castle Square, walk down Angel Street and Snig Hill, turn right onto Bridge Street. Alternatively, any bus going to Sheffield, I’m obviously not going to list directions for them all. For the return, the 57 or 57a bus runs roughly half hourly.
