Full description:

With rivers, waterfalls, and stunning views throughout, this walk offers a chance to ascend the lesser visited northern side of Kinder Scout.

From our start point at the former Snake Pass Inn our journey begins by crossing the River Ashop and follows the scenic Fair Brook up the northern face of Kinder Scout. At the top of the brook our hard work is immediately rewarded with wonderful views to over Bleaklow and the surrounding hills. We continue to enjoy these views as we follow the edge of the plateau to Fairbrook Naze and all the way round to the waterfall at Kinder Downfall. Here we'll turn towards the south and pass the other notable points of Kinder Low and Brown Knoll.

The final part of our journey sees us follow the famous ridge path over Rushup Edge and Mam Tor to Hollins Cross where we'll make our decent into Castleton. Various establishments in Castleton offer well earned rewards of the sweet or liquid varieties for those who are interested before hopping on the bus back to Sheffield.

Please note that this is a linear walk with a different start and end point. There's no direct route back to the start point from the end so this is only really viable by bus. The fares is £2 each way.

Public transport or car sharing options:

Take the 257 bus from Sheffield Interchange to Glossop at 08:55 as far as Snake Pass Inn.
The return journey is on the 272 from Castleton.
Fare £2 each way.
