Full description:
A walk taking advantage of the £2 bus fare cap, allowing us to join two routes that would otherwise be much more expensive. This route takes us from Litton to Bakewell, with some high viewpoints above the famous White Peak dales. First it's Cressbrook village, with views over Millers Dale and Upper Dale, then we cross the river and climb up the other side to Putwell Hill for views over Monsal Dale and the hill fort opposite at Fin Cop. We descend again to cross Taddington Dale, then climb once more to Sheldon where there should be a view over Ashford in the Water, before we descend again to walk through Ashford and on to Bakewell.
Public transport or car sharing options:
Catch the number 65 from Sheffield Interchange at 09:35 get off at Litton.
Return buses to Sheffield run two an hour from Bakewell.
It is possible to us a number 173 bus from Bakewell to Litton on Saturdays, however these are infrequent and the walk cannot guarantee a convineant finish time for this bus. If you choose to use this it's at your own risk.
Additional info: The walk leader would like to revive the practice of having a backmarker. This is someone who helps the leader manage the group typically by monitoring the back of the group. This is a good way to help the group please message the leader if interested.
