This is a walk with a difference! We’re going to take it easy because it’s the day after our Christmas party, and go for a relaxed walk from Fox House to Hathersage and spend some extra time enjoying the view by drawing it! We’ll be spending a set time in each spot to draw, some might be 2 minutes, some ight be 5, and if we find a sheltered spot with something nice to draw, we might stay there 10 minutes.
This is one for all drawing abilities, whether the last time you drew anything was in year 9 art, or you’re a regular sketcher or doodler. Just bring along some paper and whatever you want to draw with - back of an envelope and a biro from the bottom of your bag? Fine! Lovely new sketchbook you’ve bought for the occasion? Fine! Just want to come along and take a rest to enjoy the view and don’t fancy drawing? Also fine!
From Fox House we’ll make our way along Burbage Edge, up to Stanage Edge and then drop down into Hathersage in search of a pub at the end. There will be some lovely rocks and beautiful scenery (weather permitting).
This is still a walk in the Peaks in December, so along with your drawing materials you will need:
Good boots - some of the route is boggy and there are some big rocks.
Warm clothing - waterproof coat, hat, gloves, etc.
Lunch - there’s nowhere to stop for food on the route.
A thermos with something warm to drink is recommended - stopping to draw will make us chillier.
You may also want to bring something to sit on to prevent wet bums.
Transport: 272 bus from Sheffield Interchange at 10:36 gets to Fox House for 11:15. Check closer to the date in case bus times change.
