Linear walk
This walk continues the recent series which take advantage of the currently cheap bus fares to run walks that would normally be quite expensive.
We begin at the Bakewell bus terminus (by the roundabout) at 10:15 and, after a brief walk along the river, we'll start to head for the hills. We'll make our way towards Over Haddon before continuing on towards Youlgreave. At Youlgreave we pick up The Limestone Way, which we'll follow for the remainder of our journey.
Our route takes us past Robin Hood's Stride, a striking rock formation by Harthill Moor, then continues past Winster and through the sleepy village of Bonsall. Eventually we'll descend into Matlock for a well earned rest on the bus back to Sheffield.
Please note that this is a linear walk with different start and end points.
Public transport or car sharing options:
Take the 218 bus from Sheffield Interchange at 09:10 to Bakewell. The return journey to Sheffield is via the X17 from Matlock to Sheffield. The fare is £2 in each direction.
If you need to drive there is a Transpeak service from Matlock to Bakewell Leaves 9:37 arrives 9.58.
