Start time: Update: 18:00 was 17:30

Distance (in miles): 4.5

Full description:

A nice walk along what is referred locally to as "Back Edge"; generally a single track, single file walk, but there are stopping points along the way with nice views over the valley.

After Back Edge, a brief stint walking through Wharncliffe Woods, eventually popping out in Oughtibridge.

Walk down the hill to the cross roads where there is the Cock Inn, maybe a pint in there before finishing with the 2nd half of the walk.

Walk back to Claywheels Lane (you will likely have passed the Sainsbury's to start the walk) through the tree lined, early part of the river Don.

At the end of the walk (Claywheels Lane), options exist to peel off either back in the direction of town, or there is a nice pub (the Railway) a little up the hill, serving a well kept selection of real ales.

Public transport or car sharing options:

us = 86 (Stagecoach) will take you ALL the way from Lowedges, right to the start point with no changes.

Yellow tram to Leppings Lane tram stop (corner of Hillsborough Park). Walk down to Catchbar Lane, then over the
river bridge to Sheff Weds, Leppings Lane entrance. Follow Leppings Lane round till you see big Sainsbury's,
straight up Halifax Rd, left onto Foxhill Rd walk up Foxhill Road, turn left onto the bottom of Foxhill Crescent (before the parade of shops).

I have capacity for 3 cars (subject to change depending on when my driveway is fixed), one on my drive, one in front and then maybe one in front of that.

I know it may seem a long route to the start point, but I can assure you the views and variety make up for it overall.
